BauCMU with BauLadders

BauDuctile CMU Shearwalls are composed of C-shaped and H-shaped BauBlocks with a web height of 3”, which allows vertical spacing of horizontal BauLadders at 4” on center.

The upper BauLadder with rebar welded to it at 16” on center is supported by the BauBlock shells at the mortar joint level. The lower BauLadder is supported by the 3” high web of the BauBlock.

Vertical reinforcement of BauLadders or rebar will be confined by the horizontal BauLadders spaced at 4” on center.  Grout with minimum compressive strength of 5,000psi will be specified.  To reduce damage to the face of the BauDuctile CMU Shearwall during an earthquake, flexible mortar, BauFlexMortar will be specified.  In this way, the BauBlock face shells coated on the runner face will be able to rotate slightly so that the majority of the lateral force is resisted by the grout while the BauBlock will avoid damage by relieving itself of the stress by articulating.

The BauCleanout BauBlock at the lowest course will have a BauValve at 8’ on center above the wall lancet to speed clean out and grouting by first flushing.
